The Voice of Freeport, an almost 2-month old local media project, launched its website on Monday, August 17th. The group, made up of local Freeport residents who want to see progressive change and social justice in their community, are excited to continue their work. According to The Voice, the website will be able to store the group’s content in a professional and easy-to-use way, which will allow the group to…

Okay, we’ll drop the journalism schtick for just a moment.

We are so excited by the community response to our efforts. After less than 2 months of activity, we have received over 2,000 page likes on Facebook, our posts have been seen over 100,000 times, and we’ve covered everything from bake sales to protests.

This project is about engaging and organizing our community. This town deserves change and we want to play a role in educating and informing you, the public, about happens in your government.

Because this government is yours. Our local elected officials work for you. You hire them, you evaluate them, and on Election Day you can fire them if you so choose.

Join us. Whether you want to write for us, go live on Facebook, or just bookmark this website to see what’s going on in your community, we would love you to be a part of it.

We can make the Freeport of tomorrow. Together.

  1. The Voice Of Freeport has been my “go to” spot for local news and events for the past two months. I enjoy the wide variety of topics covered, as we in Freeport have no other news source available to us.
I appreciate your site for keeping us informed on what is happening in our community, local government, national news and events held in town. Thanks. ☮️
