The start of a new week brings new statistics about positive tests, active case counts, and testing rates in the county. Our thanks to the Stephenson County Health Department for maintaining an open channel of information about the county’s COVID stats.

This is the daily increase of COVID cases in Stephenson County for the last 28 days. While there is a slight upward trend in the amount of new cases per day, the county has not seen a spike like the ones that recently occurred in Winnebago and Jo Daviess Counties.

Since active case counts fell in early July, Stephenson County has seen between 15 to 25 active COVID cases for the last several weeks. With 27 active cases on August 17th, the county had its most active COVID patients on a single day since July 10th. Something to watch as we move forward.

Finally, this image shows the amount of COVID tests given out by the county since late March. 1,000 tests have been given out since the start of August; around 8,000 tests have been done since the pandemic started.

8,000 tests would be enough to test about 20% of the county’s residents; to clarify, however, this statistic does not necessarily reflect the amount of people tested for COVID-19 as individuals may have taken multiple tests in the last several months.
