State Senator Brian Stewart and State Representative Andrew Chesney recently released statistics for their campaign fundraising totals through June 30th, 2020.
The disclosures describe the donations received and expenditures made by the campaigns during the 2nd financial quarter (Q2), which lasts between April 1st and June 30th. All state-level campaign committees are required by law to release fundraising disclosures every quarter.
The Stewart campaign currently has $6,000 in cash on hand. The campaign did not receive any donations in the last three months.
The Chesney campaign currently has $32,200 in cash on hand. The campaign raised $14,500 in the last three months.
The Chesney campaign’s top donor in Q2 was Steven Chesney, the president of Seaga Manufacturing and Andrew Chesney’s father. He donated $7,500 to his son’s campaign. Chesney’s other donors during Q2 were Fischer Excavating Inc. ($2,000) and three political action committees (PACs): the Realtor PAC ($2,500), the IL State Medical Society PAC ($1,500), and the Associated Beer Distributors of IL PAC ($1,000).
Chesney’s high fundraising activity is consistent with the fact that he is running for re-election this November. Stewart’s slow fundraising activity this last quarter can be contextualized by the fact that he is not up for re-election until November of 2022.
